La Universidad en la Era Digital: Inteligencia Artificial, Redes Sociales y Transformación del Aprendizaje surge de una preocupación académica concreta y de un momento histórico que la vuelve ineludible. En apenas tres años, la inteligencia artificial generativa ha pasado de ser una promesa técnica a una mediación cotidiana de la escritura, la lectura y la toma de decisiones de los estudiantes universitarios; en paralelo, las plataformas sociales han consolidado su lugar como entornos informales donde se construye identidad, se consume información académica y se negocian criterios de verdad. Ambos fenómenos, operando de manera convergente, están reconfigurando de modo estructural no únicamente instrumental lo que significa aprender, enseñar y producir conocimiento en la universidad contemporánea. Este libro nace de la convicción de que comprender ese cambio es, hoy, una tarea académica prioritaria.
El propósito de la obra es ofrecer al estudiante universitario y al docente en ejercicio una revisión crítica de la literatura internacional disponible sobre inteligencia artificial generativa, redes sociales y aprendizaje en educación superior. No se trata de un informe de investigación empírica propia ni de la presentación de hallazgos originales obtenidos por los autores; se trata, deliberadamente, de un texto de revisión que sistematiza, organiza y pone en diálogo la evidencia publicada entre 2023 y 2026, incorporando además marcos teóricos consolidados y fuentes clásicas pertinentes. Frente a la velocidad con la que se multiplican artículos, documentos de política y herramientas, el libro asume una función de mediación: seleccionar, contrastar y traducir esa producción a un lenguaje accesible sin renunciar al rigor académico.
La obra se organiza en nueve capítulos distribuidos en cuatro bloques de progresión conceptual. Un primer bloque de diagnóstico y marcos (capítulos 1 y 2) sitúa a la universidad en la era digital y presenta los marcos teóricos sociedad red, conectivismo, subjetividad digital que permiten interpretarla. Un segundo bloque de fenómenos (capítulos 3 a 5) examina por separado la inteligencia artificial generativa y las redes sociales, para luego estudiar su convergencia en ecosistemas integrados. Un tercer bloque sobre consecuencias (capítulos 6 y 7) analiza los patrones de adopción estudiantil de IA y sus implicaciones para la integridad académica y la ética universitaria. Un cuarto bloque de respuesta institucional (capítulos 8 y 9) traduce lo revisado a implicaciones pedagógicas, curriculares y de política, y propone una agenda de investigación situada.
Los destinatarios de este texto son, en primer lugar, los estudiantes universitarios de grado y de posgrado que necesitan marcos legibles para comprender el ecosistema digital en el que ya estudian y trabajan. En segundo lugar, los docentes en ejercicio que buscan fundamentos para rediseñar sus asignaturas, sus criterios de evaluación y sus estrategias de acompañamiento en escenarios mediados por asistentes generativos. Por esta razón, cada capítulo articula objetivos de aprendizaje, preguntas de enfoque, desarrollo argumental apoyado en fuentes verificables, cajas pedagógicas, glosario, autoevaluación y actividades de consolidación. La obra dedica atención particular al contexto latinoamericano y ecuatoriano, donde la transición digital se produce sobre infraestructuras desiguales y sobre tradiciones institucionales en activo debate sobre calidad, pertinencia y masificación.
Corresponde, finalmente, reconocer las limitaciones de un proyecto como éste. La literatura revisada es mayoritariamente anglófona y recoge solo parcialmente las realidades universitarias de América Latina; la evidencia sobre algunos fenómenos la convergencia IA redes, las prácticas de autoría compartida con asistentes generativos, el efecto a largo plazo sobre la cognición estudiantil es todavía preliminar y, en ocasiones, contradictoria; y el ritmo de cambio tecnológico hará que algunas descripciones envejezcan antes que sus marcos interpretativos. El libro no oculta estas limitaciones: las asume como parte de su vocación abierta. Más que ofrecer respuestas cerradas, aspira a dotar al lector de un marco crítico robusto y de una invitación explícita al diálogo. Si estas páginas contribuyen a que estudiantes y docentes se aproximen con mayor criterio a las tecnologías que ya median su vida académica, el propósito de la obra estará cumplido.
